Our time here at Green Lake National Fish Hatchery is coming to an end. We reserved a condo at Smuggler's Notch, near Stowe, Vermont, for the week of Labor Day in hopes Virginia's sister and husband would be able to travel and visit with us there. Cathy and Jim flew into Burlington International Airport for a five day visit. This is the first we had seen them in over two years. We had a wonderful time visiting with them and catching up on hugs, laughter, tears and stories.
We had a two bedroom/two bath first floor unit.
We were quite impressed with how well the kitchen was stocked with all the cooking and baking equipment we needed. We prepared almost all of our meals in the Condo.
Vermont Teddy Bear Company
About an hour away, we visited the Vermont Teddy Bear Company in Shelburne, Vermont, to take a tour of the factory.
We had plenty of time to browse the gift shop.
There were only eight people on our tour.
All the bears are individually made and stuffed by hand.
Each one has an unconditional lifetime guarantee.
Spirit of Ethan Allen
We took an hour and half cruise on Lake Champlain aboard the Spirit of Ethan Allen III.
A lighthouse at both ends of the breakwater.
We had the perfect day for a cruise.
Kurt, Virginia and Cathy
Downtown Burlington, from Lake Champlain.
Population only 44,000
The Old Round Church in Richmond, Vermont
This rare polygonal meeting house is rumored to have been built in a circle so that the devil has nowhere to hide.
Bingham Falls in Smugglers Notch State Park
Jim, Kurt and Virginia took a half mile steep hike to Bingham Falls.
The 40 foot cascade was worth the walk.
Vermont State House in Montpelier, Vermont, built in 1857
The State House's gold dome is 57 feet high, made of wood sheathed in copper and covered with 23.7 carat gold leaf.
The Senate Chamber with all its original furnishings, houses 30 members.
The Representatives' hall is home to 150 members.
So ends our days here at Green Lake Fish Hatchery. We spent four months watching the fish grow from small fry (half inch) to smolt (6 inch). We have noticed some birds are already making their way south. So it is with us, time to take down the feeder, hitch up and hit the road.

You are so lucky to be able to go through the Teddy Bear Company. It’s never been open when we have been going through Vermont.
Virginia – you and your sister look just alike!
Hope all is well with your 5th wheel and you got all the repairs finished.
When are you planning on getting back to Santa Ana?
