Texas Sidetrips

Sam Houston Memorial Musuem
This museum is in Huntsville on the Sam Houston State University Campus. 
Woodland Home built by Sam Houston and his wife in 1848.
He lived here while he served in the U.S. Senate.

Texas Prison Museum
Huntsville is the headquarters the state prison system. 
Many artifacts and historical information are inside, including "Sparky".

Lake Somerville Army Corp. of Engineer Park
Rock Creek Unit, a beautiful quiet and spacious park right on the shore of Lake Somerville.

George H.W. Bush Library
This presidential library is located on the Texas A & M campus in College Station.
TBM Avenger, similar to the Navy plane Bush flew in WWII.
George H.W. Bush's Studebaker. This was their family car as he worked in the oil and gas industry in West Texas.

A replica of the Oval Office during George H.W.'s years there.
We walked around the back of the Library to view the pond and gardens.
President George H.W. Bush, his wife Barbara, and young daughter Robin's grave site.

Canyon Lake Army Corp. of Engineer Park
After spending six nights at Lake Somerville, we ventured over to another ACE just north of San Antonio to stay at Potter's Creek Unit of Canyon Lake for four nights.
