We stopped for a week at Bear Valley RV Park, a new RV park nine miles north of Panguitch, Utah. This was a great base location, near Bryce, Cedar Breaks, and Capital Reef National Parks. The RV park has a new Sinclair Gas Station and new laundry too.
We were in site #1 with an unobstructed view overlooking the high desert.
RED CANYON IN THE DIXIE NATIONAL FOREST
Our approach to Bryce National Park, just 32 miles away, took us east on Scenic Highway 12 through Red Canyon. An often overlooked, but very beautiful place in its own right.
The new Red Canyon Visitor Center.
There are two short tunnels built in the early 1900's.
BRYCE NATIONAL PARK
Just beyond Red Canyon is the entrance to Bryce Canyon National Park.

MOSSY CAVE HIKE
Located on the east side of Bryce along Highway 12. This All-American Road, that runs between Bryce and Capital Reef, snakes along narrow ridge tops and red rock canyons. We found some 14% grades, thankfully our truck/trailer was left behind in Panguitch.
Waterfall along the Mossy Cave Trail
It is a one mile hike to Mossy Cave.

That is such an amazing part of the country. My father moved to Saint George, UT many years ago and we've enjoyed getting up that direction.
